Canterbury Green Skills 4 Business Programme

The Green Skills 4 Business programme, commissioned by Canterbury City Council and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, will give 40 businesses in the Canterbury District (which includes the city of Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and its rural areas) the opportunity to reduce their carbon and access new green markets.

The fully funded and free training programme has two elements:

  • Training and workshops for businesses from any sector to help measure their carbon, reduce their waste, and minimise their environmental impact. These engaging training sessions include expert speakers from industry and will help to create a community of like-minded businesses who are seeking to boost their green credentials.
  • A dedicated green construction support programme to help new and existing construction businesses understand the opportunities in the retrofit sector. Many building firms are looking at moving into the retrofit sector as new funding is launched to help homeowners reduce their bills. This course will include talks with contractors who have already “made the leap” and help create a guide to show what funding is out there for training and upskilling.

Eligibility

The project will run until 31st March 2025 and offer up to 40 businesses the opportunity to boost their green credentials or access a new green market.

Courses have been designed to offer maximum flexibility, so will be delivered online and in-person, offering bite-sized sessions which you can pick and choose to suit your needs. There will be networks and events which again you can opt in and out of as required.

To be eligible for this support your business must be based in the Canterbury District and you must be in some form of employment (including self-employed).

Apply

The application process is quick and simple. First of all, please provide us with some initial information about your business and our support team will be in touch with information about the next training session or event that you could attend.
